Coming up…

June 29, 2009

I can’t believe half of 2009 is gone with the wind. Seems like 2008 was just yesterday.  I can finally feel summer is here today as it’s awfully hot outside.  Speaking of summer, here’s our up coming summer events:

San Fransisco – We’ll be spending our July 4th long weekend up in the Bay area. Wow, and I’ll be shooting an engagement session by the Golden Gate bridge.  How cool is that!  I still have a few days to figure out how to entertain the kids in the car during the 6-hour drive.  Hopefully, they have learned to make friends with Miss Patience and Mr. Tolerence.

Church retreat – The next trip will be church retreat at California Baptist University, Riverside on the last weekend of July.  It will be our first time going on a retreat with both Annabelle and Christian.  For me, playing badminton there will be highlight of the trip.  Keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll finally get to do some real exercise after three years.

Knott’s Berry Farm – Our whole family will get to go to Knott’s Berry Farm for a day in August.  This is Ricky’s company “picnic”.   Since my last visit was probably 10 years ago, this seems pretty exciting.  Honestly, I think the most exciting part is, IT’S FREE!.

New York – Ricky and I will be going to NY for a few days to attend and to shoot a wedding.  The groom was Ricky’s best man and elementary school classmate.  I wish I could stay a little longer because I know I’m going to love NY.

It’s gonna be a busy and crazy summer for us! May God bless you with a great, fun summer too!

I think slideshow is such a cool way of showcasing beautiful photos. That’s why I have decided to put Grace and Parson’s engagement photos in a slideshow for you to see. I love capturing actions in my photos.  And showing them in a slideshow adds so much more dynamic to still images.

Tantrum

June 25, 2009

tan⋅trum: an emotional outburst of ill humor or a fit of bad temper wherein the higher brain functions are unable to stop the emotional expression of the lower (emotional and physical) brain functions. It can be categorized by an irrational fit of crying, screaming, defiance, angry ranting and a resistance to every attempt at pacification in which even physical control is lost. The person may not stand or sit on their own. Even when the “goal” of the person is met, he or she is not calmed.

I forgot what Miss Annabelle was being upset about.  But she was even more mad when she saw me grabbing my camera and took pictures of her.  I think somehow she knew her emotional and physical malfunction was embarrassing.  Sorry Belle, I couldn’t help it!  Knowing that your mother is a photographer (well…sort of), every special thing you do will be documented in pictures (and posted).

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21

Last week, I tried to calculate how much we need to save so that Ricky and I can retire at 60 and still live another 30 years on earth (if God permits).  And then recently, I came across with Matthew 6:19-21 in a few different occasions.  These are some of my favorite bible verses to always remind me of my life directions, to make sure I steer back on the right track when I get side tract.  It’s important to look at the big picture but not the small pictures (which I do every day).   So I’ve decided that we need to save up for eternity as well, because I can’t even bring my 5D to heaven with me after all.   Have you opened your heavenly account and started investing your life and energy in this heavenly fund that will never crash?

A  super awesome wedding invitation.  I would be so stoked if I got invited to their wedding.  Too bad that I do not know Corey and Rachel.

I just did my very first e-session for my high school buddy and her fiance.  I still remember Grace and I had the same hand writing when we were in high school!  She recalled that we both loved copying pop song lyrics during class (did I really?).  Grace and Parson live in Hong Kong and came all the way here to the U.S. to get some photo shoots.

We headed back to Irvine in the afternoon.  They visited Annabelle and Christian at my home.  Then we went out for some more photos at the Strawberry Farm.

I met Parson for the first time.  His personality is way friendlier than his looks in these photos.  I did not ask for his serious expression most of the time.  He naturally looks this way in front of the camera! I couldn’t stop laughing when I took these serious looking shots of him.  That’s how I am in photo shoots…always laughing until I fall on the ground, or couldn’t keep my hands stable because I laugh too much.  What kind of photographer is that?
